Dr. Sonya McKinzie has been honored as the 2025 Georgia Mother of the Year® by American Mothers, Inc. Based in Marietta, Georgia, Dr. McKinzie is a survivor, advocate, and founder of ThriveHER Incorporated—a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women overcoming trauma and abuse. Her inspiring journey from surviving domestic violence and PTSD to becoming a certified trauma and recovery life coach showcases why she is considered one of the best moms in the state. She is also the author of 18 books centered on healing and empowerment. At the heart of her story is her role as a mother; she describes motherhood as 'the most sacred role I’ve ever held,' and her 14-year-old daughter as her guiding light.
